"Greg's Buttons" is a simple system extension (or INIT) that replaces the standard black and white push buttons, check boxes, and radio buttons with new "mondo cool" color 3-d ones. The new buttons are designed to match the windows and scroll bars under System 7, and they even support the color tinges that you can select in the System 7 Color Control Panel. In addition, "Greg's Buttons" will colorize the stop sign, caution, and note alert icons. This extension works with monochrome monitors as well, provided that your machine supports Color QuickDraw, but the effect is not as impressive. Under System 6 (with multifinder), you will get everything except the color tinges, but be warned, the rest of the user interface will pale in comparison.
To install this extension under System 7, just drag it to your system folder and click "OK" when you are asked if you want to put it in the extensions folder (or if you're daring, you could drag it to the extensions folder by hand, but why waste such a friendly System 7 feature). To install this INIT under System 6, just drag it to the system folder, and that's it. To disable this extension, either drag it out of the extensions (or system) folder and restart, or hold down the mouse button while the extension is loading.
DISTRIBUTION INFORMATION:
"Greg's Buttons" is SHAREWARE. You may try it out for ten days. If after that time, you think it is a frivolous waste of processor time and disk space, trash it. If you want to keep it, you must register by sending a check for $10 (US $ only please) to the following address:
Greg Landweber
10 Wallingford Drive
Princeton, NJ 08540
Write "Greg's Buttons" on the check so I know what it's for. With the check please include your own address (e-mail if possible), and tell me where you obtained your copy. I'll send registered users postcards announcing major upgrades, but unfortunately I do not have the time or facilities to send upgrade disks through conventional mail.
My employer and the university I attend have nothing to do with this project.
